Gases

·       Nitrogen (78%), Oxygen (21% ),argon (0.93%) percent carbon dioxide (0.03%), neon Helium, Ozone, hydrogen, krypton methane etc.

 Water Vapours

·       water vapours depends on the temperature and decrease from equator to poleward.

 Structure of atmosphere

·       4 layer
·       Troposphere,
·       Stratosphere,
·       Mesosphere and
·    Thermosphere(Ionosphere and exosphere)

Troposphere

·    Lower most layer
· Height 60 km above the equator and 6 km above the pole.
· Temperature decrease with increasing height.
· The rate of decrease of temperature is called normal lapse rate.
·    The upper limit of troposphere is called tropopause.
·    Troposphere means zone of mixing.
·   Tropopause means mixing     stop.

Stratosphere

·    Height 25 30 km.
·       temperature increase with increasing height.
·       Circulation of feable wind.
·       Cirrus Cloud in the lower stratosphere.
·       Concentration of ozone layer.

Mesosphere

·       Extends between 50 km and 80 km.
·       Temperature again decreases with increasing height.
·       Temperature becomes minus 80 degree centigrade at 80 kilometer.

Thermosphere

·     80 kilometer to 640 km.
·       divided into two layer,
·       Ionosphere and
·       Exosphere

Ionosphere

·    Extend from 80 kilometer to 640km.
·       D layer ,
·       E layer  known as kennelly-heaviside layer,
·       E, E1 and E2,
·       F layer: F1 and F2,
·       G layer .

Exosphere

· Upper most layer of atmosphere  640km.
·       Temperature 5568 degree Celsius.
·       Density becomes extremely low.
