World's largest ocean


Oceans  

The water component of the earth is called Hydrosphere which covers about 70% of the Earth surface. Out of all water on earth, saline water in oceans, fees and silent groundwater makeup about 97% of it. Only 2.5 - 2.75 percent is freshwater including 1. 75–2% frozen in glaciers ice and snow 0.5 –0.75%  is found in groundwater less than 0.01% of it a surface water in lakes and rivers. most of the water on Earth is in oceans. It's divided into five smaller oceans  that are _ Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Arctic Ocean arranged in decreasing order of their size.


 Indian Ocean


  •  Only ocean named after a country and is deeper than Atlantic Ocean.
  •  Indian ocean is bordered by Asia to the North, Antarctica to South, Australia to East and Africa to West.
  •  Third largest body of water in the world.
  •  It contains numerous continental Islands of volcanic origin ( Mauritius, Seychelles,  Andaman and Nicobar). Lakshadweep and Maldives Aarav Coral origin.
  •  The Indian oceans deepest point is the Sunda deep which located in the JAVA Trench (Indonesia).
  •  The Indian Ocean is known as the warmest ocean in the world and has lowest oxygen contain in the world.
  •  The Persian Gulf, Red Sea and Arabian Sea are the most pollution prone area in the Indian Ocean.
  •  Several rivers like Indus, Ganga, Narmada, Brahmaputra, Zambezi, Jubba and Irrawaddy  rivers flow into Indian Ocean.


 Pacific Ocean


  •   It is the largest and deepest ocean of the world.
  •  Magellan  give the ocean its name "Mar Pacifio" that is   the Peaceful sea.
  •  Borders for countries North America, South America, Australia and Asia. 
  •  The ocean is split into two parts that are divided by the equator.
  •  The deepest trench of the ocean and world is Mariana Trench.
  •  The Pacific "Ring of Fire" is the world's biggest chain of volcanoes.
  •  The Pacific Ocean is connected to Arctic Ocean by bering Strait.



 Arctic Ocean


  •  The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and the shallowest of the world's five Ocean but has    widest Continental shaft among them all.
  •  Continents that border the architect including Europe, Asia and North America.
  •  The Arctic contains less salt then other 4 Ocean due to its low evaporation rates and   the large amount of freshwater that is contributed to the ocean by rivers and streams.
  •  Phytoplankton are the only plant type that live in Arctic Ocean.
  •  There are lots of Petroleum reserves under the Arctic Ocean. 
  •  Huge part of Arctic Ocean is covered by sea ice.

 Atlantic Ocean


  •  It is the second largest ocean in the world and has longest coastal line.
  •  It is a life giver ocean has been a source of food.
  •  Greenland is the largest island in the Atlantic Ocean.
  •  Bermuda triangle is located in the Atlantic Ocean.
  •  Atlantic Ocean is the world's saltiest sea and has abundant number of natural petroleum deposit and gas fields.
  •  There are four trenches in Atlantic beyond the ocean's depth: Puerto Rico trench, the laurentian abyss,Romanche trench and South sandwich trench. 
  • Sargasso sea ( sea without a shore) is located completely withen the Atlantic. 
  •  The highest tide in the world are experienced in Atlantic Ocean near the bay of fundy in Canada.
  •  Cuba,Jamaica and Puerto Rice  are volcanic Island. Iceland is the largest island of the volcanic origin. 



 Southern ocean


  •  The southern Ocean is located in the southern hemisphere and 4th largest ocean. 
  •  Its deepest point is the South sandwich Trench.
  •  It's a temperature range from -2 degree to 10 degree centigrade.
  •  Icebergs can be found in the southern Ocean during any season.
  •  The circumpolar currents of the southern Ocean flow clockwise from west to east.

What is Coal ?

Image result for coal typesCoal is an organic sedimentary rock that forms from the accumulation and preservation of plant materials, usually in a swamp environment. Coal is the leading mineral fuel.  It is burn to produce heat which is used to generate electric power. The term coal is generally carbonaceous character that is derived from vegetable matter involving set of process such as burial, compaction and biochemical transformation.

Types or ranks of coal are determined by carbon content. There are four types of coal, ordered from lowest to highest rank below.

Properties



Peat
  1. It’s our first stage of transformation to coal.
  2. Peat is a brown porous mass of partly decomposed vegetable material.
  3. It contains about 85% moisture, 10.4% volatile matter and 4.6 % carbon.

  5. a)     Big peat :  Bob peat, which is evolved out of lower type of vegetation, like mosses (plant)
  6. b)    Mountain Peat:  that is composed and partially altered form of higher types of trees. This type of Peat is found in sub mountainous regions.
  7. It's calorific value is very low

Lignite

  1. Lignite is the lowest rank of coal. It is a peat that has been transformed into a rock, and that rock is a brown-black coal.
  2. Lignite is also called brown coal as it color is often dark brown.
  3. The lignite is composed of finely divided plant tissues.
  4. It contain about 25-45% moisture, 60—70% carbon and 20-25% oxygen.
  5. It's calorific value is very low (11000—12500 B.T.U)

Bituminous
  1. It's also known as common coal.
  2. The original vegetable material has been fully transformed into carbonaceous material. It burns with a yellow flame.
  3. Types : sub-bituminous, bituminous and semi-bituminous
  4. Bituminous coal is formed when a sub bituminous coal is subjected to increased levels of organic metamorphism.
  5. It's contains 63-95% carbon, 8-15% moisture and 10-40% volatile matter.
  6. It's calorific value range between 13500—16000 B.T.U.

Anthracite
  1. Anthracite is the highest rank of coal.
  2. It is a hard coal with an iron -black color and submatallic lustre.
  3. It is often subdivided into semi-anthracite, anthracite, and meta-anthracite on the basis of carbon content.
  4. The Anthracite contains about 90–94% carbon and 3–4% volatile matter.
  5. Burns with a short blue flame and give little smoke.
  6. calorific value ranges between 15000—15600 B.T.U

भूकंप की चेतावनी


भूकंप की चेतावनी: वैज्ञानिकों के अनुसार हिमालय क्षेत्र में कभी भी आ सकता है 8.5 तीव्रता का भूकंप


जवाहरलाल नेहरू सेंटर के भूकंप (Earthquake) विशेषज्ञ सीपी राजेंद्रन का कहना है कि इस क्षेत्र में भारी मात्रा में तनाव भविष्य में केंद्रीय हिमालय में तीव्रता का भूकंप (Earthquake in Himalayas) ला सकता है.


वैज्ञानिकों की मानें तो हिमालय क्षेत्र के आसपास जिस तरह के भौगोलिक घटनाएं  हो रही हैं, उसे देखते हुए यह साफ है कि इस इलाके में 8.5 तीव्रता का भूकंप (Earthquake) कभी भी आ सकता है. शोधकर्ताओं ने भारतीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी इसरो के कार्टोसैट -1 उपग्रह से गूगल अर्थ और इमेजरी का उपयोग करने के अलावा भूगर्भीय सर्वेक्षण के भारत द्वारा प्रकाशित स्थानीय भूविज्ञान और संरचनात्मक मानचित्र का उपयोग किया है.शोधकर्ताओं के विश्लेषण में बताया गया है कि "अध्‍ययन हमें यह निष्कर्ष निकालने के लिए मजबूर करता है कि केंद्रीय हिमालय में 15 मीटर की औसत सरकने के कारण 1315 और 1440 के बीच खिंचाव 8.5 या उससे अधिक तीव्रता का एक बड़ा भूकंप क्षेत्र लगभग 600 किमी तक फैला है.
बता दें कि इससे पहले नानयांग टेक्नोलॉजिकल यूनिवर्सिटी (एनटीयू) की अगुवाई में एक रिसर्च टीम ने भी पाया था कि मध्य हिमालय क्षेत्रों में रिएक्टर पैमाने पर आठ से साढ़े आठ तीव्रता का शक्तिशाली भूकंप आने का खतरा है. शोधकर्ताओं ने एक बयान में कहा कि सतह टूटने संबंधी खोज का हिमालय पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों से जुड़े इलाकों पर गहरा असर हो रहा है. अमेरिका के भू-वैज्ञानिक रोजर बिल्हम जिनका पूरा जीवन भूंकप और इससे जुड़ी चीजों की खोज पर ही बीता है ने भी भारतयी वैज्ञानिकों की इस चेतावनी का समर्थन किया है.उन्होंने कहा कि भारत के वैज्ञानिकों ने जो संभावना जताई है उसपर किसी भी तरह का शक नहीं किया जा सकता.

 The Silicate Group

The silicate mineral group is of the most important because they continue about 90% of the earth's crust, occurring as the major constituents of most igneous rocks and in appreciable quantities in sedimentary( except limestone) and metamorphic varieties as well.  most common silicate mineral are made up chiefly of a few of the following 9 element Na, K, Al, Mg, Fe, Li, Si and O. These include minerals such as quartz, feldspar, mica, amphibole, pyroxene, olivine, and a great variety of clay minerals.
 Every Silicate mineral contains Oxygen and Silicon. The basic unit in all silicate mineral is the Silicon-oxygen tetrahedron. The silica tetrahedron, a combination of four oxygen atoms and one silicon atom. These are arranged such that planes drawn through the oxygen atoms form a tetrahedron. Since the silicon ion has a charge of +4 and each of the four oxygen ions has a charge of –2, the silica tetrahedron has a net charge of –4.
