Stalagmite

Stalagmite

The water dripping from the end of a stalactite falls to the floor of a cave and deposits more calcite into a mound. A stalagmite will form in a cone like shape. This is why you usually find stalactites and stalagmites in pairs.

It's a type of rock formation that rises from the floor of a cave due to the accumulation of material deposited on the floor. In fact a stalagmite is an upward-growing of mineral deposits  from water dripping onto the floor of a cave. Most stalagmites have rounded or flattened tips.
